WIWW. {getting rid}

So... I have this constant struggle EVERY TIME I look in my closet. I have too many clothes in there for the amount of outfits I wear.

My pants section is full.
My skirts section is full.
My shirts section is full.
My dress section is full.
Even my shoe section has no spare room.

But if you saw what I wore.
A few pairs of pants.
A few skirts.
Some more shirts.
A handful of dress.
And only a few pairs of shoes.

I want to get rid of clothes. Simplify.
But I'm scared.
Will it come back in style? Will I fit into them again? What if they'd go perfect with an outfit I haven't put together yet? What if...What if...What if...

Dress/Pants: Target
Shoes: TOMS

Shirt/Pants: Hand-me-down from sister

Whole Outfit: Target

O'Neill Shirt: Surf Store
Skirt: Anthropologie
Shoes: Rainbow Sandals

How do you make decisions on what to keep and what to get rid of?

Stopping by from the Pleated Poppy

If I haven't wore the item for a year I am probably not going to. I donate all my clothes to Goodwill.

I tend to hold onto my clothes for a long time too, mostly because I tend to get just a bit emotionally attache to them. :P But I do pass on clothes when I haven't worn them for a while or when they don't fit my style anymore. Personally, I'd suggest not worrying about whether they are currently in style or not--if you love them, keep them. If you don't love them, they're just taking up space.

Cute outfits! I'm wearing all Target today too. Love that store.

I've heard people say that we should look at the items we wear all the time and think about why. This way when we go shopping we'll buy clothes with the same qualities and wear them all the time. Don't know if that works, but...

If you haven't worn it in the past 6 months... Get rid of it! And if you are scared to up and get rid of things, then put it all in a black trash bag in the garage. If you don't go looking for it for a month it's time to donate! I just went through a HUGE closet purge myself and now it looks SO bare!

Stopping by from WIWW...I have a bad habit of holding onto clothes I don't wear as well..I want to say I've gotten a bit better, but that's not saying much...I always think I *might* decide I want to wear it, but usually never do!!

I've gotten pretty brutal about clearing my closet. I think the trick is to keep going back. After the third month you go through and pull stuff out you may be ready to get rid of stuff you have hesitated on before.

And the truth is- if it comes back in to style it will be a little different and you'll want to buy new anyway.
